Aquila Cybernetic Ltd - Excellence in IT Since 1998
Early Days
Aquila was founded in 1998 by Richard & Alison Moore, both of whom had considerable
experience at corporate level working respectively for IBM Research and Lockheed
Martin (UK). Seeing an opportunity to bring corporate quality ICT systems within
reach of small to medium sized businesses, they seized the moment and a new IT company
was born.
An Expanding Team of Dedicated Professionals
Andy Hardy joined the team early in the company's development and has helped
Aquila to break new ground in terms of system design and build quality. Whenever
you buy a PC or server from Aquila you can be sure it has met with Andy's strict
approval. Rebecca Green joined Aquila a short while later and has worked tirelessly
to help us maintain professional standards and service levels.
Our most valued team of IT professionals form the heart of Aquila, and all share
a common desire and drive to excel at what they do.
What's in a Name?
We are often asked where our name comes from. Aquila pronounced "Ah-kwill-uh"
and not like a mexican drink, was chosen as it was the codename of an industrial
control project that the company's founder Richard Moore worked on prior to
launching the company. Aquila is Latin for 'Golden Eagle' and we are proud
to bear a name that evokes the spirit of this free and powerful creature.
The word cybernetic which literally means the 'science of communication and
control in humans and machines' harks back to the companies early involvement
with ICT in an industrial control environment. Since the word's initial conception
by mathematician 'Norbert Wiener', it has been partially taken to describe
the internet and all things net related - hence 'Cyber-space' and 'Cyber-cafes'.
We feel that 'Cyber' describes us now better than ever.
